زمینه و هدف: در مورد پیدایش سیستم ایمنی دو فلسفه مطرح است: فلسفه دفاعی و فلسفه هوموستاز. در این مقالهی مروری، نگاهی فراتر از پیش به فلسفه وجودی سیستم ایمنی خواهیم داشت، نگاهی که در آن نقش دفاعی سیستم ایمنی، تنها بخشی از وظایف هوموستاتیک آن قلمداد میشود.
مواد و روشها: جستجوی مقالات در مدلاین با استفاده از کلیدواژههای Homeostasis، Immunculus، Natural autoantibody،Evaluation  و Immune system انجام شد.
یافتهها: هوموستاز مهمترین وظیفه سیستم ایمنی و فلسفه پیدایش این سیستم است، بهطوریکه نقش دفاعی آن نیز تنها بخشی از وظایف هموستاتیک میباشد. آنتیبادیهای طبیعی با نشان دادن تغییرات کیفی و کمی در ترکیب آنتی ژنیک بدن، این وظیفه را تحت عنوان انعکاس ایمنی ایفا میکنند و میتوانند به عنوان نشانگرهایی جهت پیشآگهی از بیماریهای مختلف عمل نمایند.
نتیجهگیری: اگرچه پیشرفتهای زیادی در توضیح نقش هموستاتیک سیستم ایمنی صورت گرفته است، ولی هنوز جای کار بسیاری برای مشخص شدن تمامی ابعاد آن وجود دارد.
