Background and Objective: The expansion of sports and related activities has made sports one of the most attractive activities accepted worldwide. Accordingly, the present study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the effect of the presence of national team members in sports clubs on the level of sports motivation of youth in Arak city.
Materials and Methods: The present study was a descriptive-analytical research. The tools for collecting information and measuring motivation were the sports motivation questionnaire, the sports participation motivation questionnaire, and the demographic questionnaire. The research method is descriptive and its purpose is practical. For this purpose, 141 athletes were selected as the sample size.
Findings: The mean test was used to examine the research hypotheses, and the results showed that the presence of national team members, seeing national team members practice, a club that has national team members, being a role model for national team members, etc., with a significance level of p<0.001, can affect sports motivation and sports participation motivation of youth in Arak city. In addition, the results of this study showed that there is no significant difference between sports participation motivation and sports motivation by gender. Also, the results of the analysis of variance (MANOVA) test showed that there is a significant and inverse difference in the scores of sports participation motivation and sports motivation of people with age (p<0/01).
Conclusion: According to the results obtained from the mean test, it can be said that attending, watching the practice or competition of national team athletes has an impact on the sports motivation of the youth of Arak. Finally, it is emphasized that sports policymakers should take advantage of the active presence of national team athletes at club levels to increase the motivation and sports participation of young people
