This descriptive study was conducted on 63 physical activity facilities including fitness clubs, public playgrounds, community centers and other free of charge physical activities resources in the area covered by the Social Development and Health Promotion Research Center. Data was gathered through interview and observation checklist and analyzed by descriptive methods.
Results:Allocation of clubs according to gender was 34.7% in men, 8.6% in women and 56.5 in both of them. 47.8% of clubs were specific for gym. Men were more involved in 20 types of sports (81.5%). Summer had the most contribution of person per session index among all seasons in a year(36.3%). Also gym and wrestling had the most participants (35.2% and 12.9% respectively). Among 157trainers 68.2% were male and 31/8% were female. Most of male trainers were involved in wrestling (17.8%) and body building(12.7%). Although female trainers spend more time in aerobic sports (26%) and Karate(18%). The environmental conditions of clubs was completely unhealthy.
Conclusion Data suggest that women have limited access to physical activity-related facilities. Also sport resources are inadequate for the residents of the covered area.
Although the group and aerobic exercises have shown to be more effective in health promotion, but people pay less attention to them. So, it should be take in to consideration as an important component of future planning.
